ZEYNEP & WEIAN

We met in 2017 at a weeknight Touch Rugby game (of course) when Zeynep had just recently moved to New York. We grew closer as we spent more time at Touch trainings and socials, fostering a close friendship over sports, our love for Asia and our backgrounds as third culture kids. As our friendship grew, we decided to take a chance and Wei took Zey on a date to a lovely Japanese restaurant in New York where he charmed her with an expensive Wagyu Katsu Sandwich and endless Touch talk. Despite constant reminders of "keeping it casual", we knew that as we grew closer, this was always going to blossom into something more serious. Then the world shut down with COVID-19 (we unfortunately did not take it seriously and caught the virus the first week of lockdown), and we decided to 'unofficially' move in together mostly out of convenience and perhaps partly as a trial for the future. Our relationship grew not only in-person, but online when Zey re-discovered gaming, as we would game side-by-side. We were quite literally spending all day together whether working from home, going to Touch, or hanging out in Verdansk (if you know, you know). Finally, after many attempts and visa issues, Wei made it to Bodrum, Turkey for the first time in 2022, where he asked Zey's parents for their blessing, and asked her to marry him right where the ceremony will be held. With so much uncertainty in a post-COVID world, we decided we didn't want to waste anymore time and officially tied the knot at City Hall in NYC on October 27, 2023. We are so excited to finally celebrate with our friends and family, and look forward to being surrounded by those that have been by our side from day 1.
